Dear Club Secretary,
Following the sad news that HM Queen Elizabeth II has passed away, the Scottish Auto Cycle Union have agreed the following whilst we wait on Government guidance:
- As a mark of respect, it is advised that all Clubs/Promoters running events up until the funeral are to hold a two-minute silence in memory of Her Majesty at a time of your choosing.
- Where venues have the ability to do so, any flags displayed should be flown at half-mast.
Please be aware that this may change if Government determine that sporting events are to be cancelled.
We await further details on the date of the funeral and will advise further to Clubs/Promoters upon announcement. If the funeral is to be held next weekend, please be advised that SACU permits will not be issued on Saturday or Sunday.
If we do not receive further guidance from the Government by the end of today and your club is hosting an event this weekend, we would encourage you to use your judgement around whether these should go ahead. We appreciate there is a lot of planning that goes into delivering events, therefore clubs need to do what is right for them.
We will continue to monitor this and ensure clubs are kept up to date.
Yours in sport,
The SACU
